As a young man, Albert excelled in his high school curriculum and completed college courses (which earned him sophomore standing upon graduation), all while playing high school and volleyball for Taft High School. After graduating with honors, Albert was accepted into the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles. His academic efforts at UCLA earned him a 3.8 GPA; in 2000, he received his Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.

He was attending NYU when the September 11th attacks occurred – he stayed in N.Y. and worked at the NYU hospital for three months, helping doctors and nurses care for the victims of the attacks.
